Workspaces are analog to streams and spaces in Qlik. They help to keep everything tidy, but more important they help to assign authorizations to the Workspaces.

Create Workspaces if authorizations are needed to gain access to the management console or hub and/or it is necessary to keep Workspaces, that is, datasources, reports and tasks tidy.

GENERAL

Set the name of the Workspace. The ID is required when using M&D API.

E-MAIL NOTIFICATIONS

Attention: To receive notification if a Task in this Workspace fails. Enable the option Send Notification E-Mails and set a recipient.

In this example, Amalia Craig will receive a notification if a Task in this Workspace fails.

ADDITIONAL SETTINGS

The DEFAULT E-MAIL SERVER of the workspace will be used for Alerts, Subscriptions and resquest of this Workspace.

The QLIK SENSE STREAM FILTER will be used when listing the Apps in the Datasource.

Set a filter to reduce the number of Apps listed and more important to show the Users only the Apps that they are allowed to see.

Attention: To set more than one Stream or Space, separate them with a semicolon (;). For example, Qlik Demo;Everyone

For Example, if Qlik Demo is set in the filter

Only the Apps in the Stream Qlik Demo will be listed in the App field in the Qlik Sense Server App Datasource:

For example, if your organization has a request to do reports about an HR App that contains the salaries of all the employees and the reports should be done by only one person, this environment needs more than one Workspace.

Following this example, this environment would have 2 Workspaces:

HR

All the rest

The Authorizations for HR Workspace will give access to Manage Content to the User that needs to create Reports, Tasks, etc on the HR Workspace, which has access to the HR App.

The Authorizations for All the rest Workspace will give access to Manage Content to all the Users that need to create Reports, Tasks, etc on the All the rest Workspace, which has access to all the other Apps.

The Users are

Amalia Craig is the designer allowed to build reports in the HR App. Amanda Honda and Amelia Fields are the designers allowed to build reports in All the rest.

To ease the administration of Users and Authorizations, User Groups are helpful.

And then the Authorization can be set

Attention: To assign authorization to another Workspace. You have to activate the other Workspace.

To activate a Workspace, press the check icon on the right of the name of the Workspace.

The Root Admin can then add the Datasources to the corresponding Workspaces. When the users login to the management console, they will only have access to their respective Workspace and therefore to the Datasources that they are allowed to see and work with.
